That’s innovative!
Innovations… yeah, tough shit!
As Anand Agarawala said, you can have some XP or Vista-like desktop (gui) which is sophisticated as it can be. If you sex it up, you get something like MacOSx. But after all, it’s almost same as it was 30 years ago.
But than I found some innovative and interesting GUIs.
First one is linux. In fact it isnt… It’s only graphical subsystem for it. It is 3d based on OpenGL, and it holds bounch of various 3d effects and beautifications 
But second one held my breath.
It’s called Bump:Top. I like it because is simulates real condition of your desk All piles an documents… and you can sort it as you want 
You interact it by pushing, pulling and piling documents with elegant, self revealing gestures.
Cant wait to see it in some OS
